Credit Counselling Singapore (CCS) conducts retirement, mental well-being and financial literacy courses for seniors as part of the National Silver Academy as a community-based partner.

Our workshops aim to strengthen the financial and mental resilience of seniors.

Retirement Readiness: Am I There Yet? (1 hour, via Facebook Live)

Retirement is the stage in life when you stop working for a living and there will be no more income from employment.

 Have you thought about where your retirement income will come from? Is it too late to start planning for retirement if I’m already in my 40s or 50s? Is it too early to plan for retirement if I’m just in my 20s or 30s?

Attend this free talk conducted via online webinar to:

1.   Learn what are the challenges that impact everyone going into retirement.

2.   Learn how you can manage your finances today so that you can be better prepared for retirement.

Retirement - Are YOU Financially Ready? [4 hours workshop]

There are many courses available to help you plan for your retirement. For example, how to build your retirement nest egg or how to plan for an early retirement.

But what if you are already into your 50's and worry about not having done much planning?

If you would like to get a glimpse of your potential financial position when you retire, this 4-hour course intends to offer a snapshot on your financial readiness to retire. With this awareness, you could take the appropriate actions to align your expectations of retirement with your available financial resources to live a more self-reliant retirement.

This course provides information and guides you through a hands-on exercise to help you:

1.    Take stock of your assets and liabilities;

2.   Project your retirement income sources and expenses;

3.   Familiarise with the various government schemes that could provide additional support in retirement and ageing.

This course is available in both English and Chinese.

 

Mode of Delivery

Conducted in-person at CCS Seminar Room at 51 Cuppage Road #07-06 Singapore 229469.

 

Who should attend?

This workshop is especially beneficial for individuals aged 50 years and above, own and reside only in a HDB home (and does not own other private properties).

 

Cost?

Net course fee payable are as follows:

1.    Singaporeans and PR seniors aged 50 and above: $27 inclusive of GST, after National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy.

2.   Others: $107, inclusive of GST.

You may use your SkillsFuture credit to pay the net course fee.

Riding The Waves of Change Smiling - Mental Health Workshop for Seniors [6 hours workshop]

Credit Counselling Singapore is proud to be a community-based organisation providing this mental health course for seniors. This course is based on a curriculum developed by the Council for Third Age (C3A) and offered as part of National Silver Academy (NSA).

The COVID-19 pandemic has raised concerns about mental health issues in the community, and in particular, among seniors. According to data from the World Health Organisation in 2017, approximately 15% of adults (aged 60 and over) suffer from a mental disorder.

“Riding the Waves of Change Smiling’’ is a 6-hour workshop that introduces seniors to mental well-being and common issues that affect it. Through experiential learning, this course provides practical tips on how to promote and maintain mental well‐being, as well as build one’s resilience for successful ageing.

At the end of the workshop, participants will:

1.   Be aware of common mental well-being Issues faced by seniors.

2.   Know of approaches, techniques, and resources to prevent and manage these common mental well-being issues.

3.   Acquire a positive outlook toward ageing.

This course is available in English.

This course is for any seniors aged 50 years and above who wants to maintain good mental well-being and have a positive outlook towards ageing.

About the National Silver Academy (NSA)

The National Silver Academy (NSA) is a network of post-secondary education institutions (PSEIs) (i.e. ITE, polytechnics, universities and arts institutions) and community-based organisations (CBOs) that offer learning opportunities that are subsidised for seniors. Seniors and PRs aged 50 years and above can look forward to attending short courses and bite sized courses that are exam free.

For courses run by community-based organisations, the final fee payable by seniors (both Singaporeans and PRs) takes into account the support given by the government to community-based organisations to develop and offer the short courses.

About Council for Third Age (C3A)

The Council for Third Age (C3A), set up in May 2007, is an agency which promotes active ageing in Singapore through public education, outreach and partnerships. As an umbrella body in the active ageing landscape, with its focus on senior learning and volunteerism, as well as positive ageing, C3A works with and through partners to help third agers age well. C3A is appointed to administer the National Silver Academy (NSA).
