Our workshops aim to strengthen the financial and mental resilience of seniors.

Managing My Finances in Retirement [1.5 hours talk via webinar + Q&A]

Attend this free talk conducted via online webinar to:

Retirement - Are YOU Financially Ready? [4 hours workshop]

There are many talks and workshops that focus on building wealth and planning early for retirement.

But not everyone may have planned for retirement when they were young. And those who did manage to plan may wonder how ready they are financially for retirement.

This workshop aims to empower young seniors become more financially self-reliant in retirement by helping them find answers to the following questions:

1.   How much am I likely to spend when I retire?

2.   How will my retirement be funded?

3.   How long will my retirement income last?

4.   How can I be more financially self-reliant?

 

When?
Conducted in English, on a monthly basis on the third Saturday afternoon of the month.  

Mandarin workshops starting in 2022.

Who should attend?
This course is specially drawn up for individuals aged 50 years and above, own and reside in a HDB home with no private property ownership.

Cost?
$27 plus GST, after a National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy for eligible seniors aged 50 and above.

Riding The Waves of Change Smiling - Mental Health Workshop for Seniors [6 hours workshop]

The COVID-19 pandemic has raised concerns about mental health issues in the community, and in particular, among seniors.

According to data from the World Health Organisation in 2017, approximately 15% of adults (aged 60 and over) suffer from a mental disorder (see fact sheet). 

Recognising the importance of maintaining good mental wellbeing, CCS will be conducting mental health workshops based on a curriculum developed by C3A.

“Riding the Waves of Change Smiling’’ is a workshop that introduces seniors the importance of mental wellbeing, raise awareness of common mental health issues faced and how to overcome them. This 6-hour workshop will involve participants in hands-on, experiential learning, share practical tips on how to promote and maintain mental wellbeing, as well as build one’s resilience for successful ageing.

At the end of the workshop, participants will:

1.   Be aware of common mental wellbeing Issues faced by seniors.

2.   Know of approaches, techniques, and resources to prevent and manage these common mental wellbeing issues.

3.   Acquire a positive outlook toward ageing.

 

When?
Conducted in English. From October 2021 onwards. Scheduled to be published.

Who should attend?
This course is for any seniors aged 50 years and above who wants to maintain good mental wellbeing and have a positive outlook towards ageing.

$27 plus GST, after a National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy for eligible seniors aged 50 and above.

About the National Silver Academy (NSA)

The National Silver Academy (NSA) is a network of post-secondary education institutions (PSEIs) (i.e. ITE, polytechnics, universities and arts institutions) and community-based organisations (CBOs) that offer learning opportunities that are subsidised for seniors. Seniors and PRs aged 50 years and above can look forward to attending short courses and bite sized courses that are exam free.

For courses run by community-based organisations, the final fee payable by seniors (both Singaporeans and PRs) takes into account the support given by the government to community-based organisations to develop and offer the short courses.

About Council for Third Age (C3A)

The Council for Third Age (C3A), set up in May 2007, is an agency which promotes active ageing in Singapore through public education, outreach and partnerships. As an umbrella body in the active ageing landscape, with its focus on senior learning and volunteerism, as well as positive ageing, C3A works with and through partners to help third agers age well. C3A is appointed to administer the National Silver Academy (NSA).
