What Are My Options
Debt rarely disappears by itself. The earlier you act, the more options you may have.
There is no single solution that works for everyone. What is suitable depends on how much you owe, who you owe, your income and how much you can realistically repay each month.
Start with what you can control
Stop adding to the debt
Avoid further credit use where possible and do not borrow simply to keep up with existing repayments.
Review your budget
Know what comes in, what goes out and what you can reasonably set aside for repayments.
Prioritise repayment
Where you can manage the debts yourself, focus on reducing balances of higher-interest debts like credit cards and credit line accounts.
If you are struggling to keep up
Speak with your creditors
Contact your bank, financial institution or licensed moneylender early to discuss whether repayment arrangements are available.
Consider debt restructuring options
Depending on your circumstances, options may include a Debt Consolidation Plan or a structured repayment arrangement such as CCS' Debt Management Programme.
For more serious debt situations, legal options may also need to be considered.
The right solution starts with understanding your situation and your payment capacity.
Credit Counselling Singapore (CCS) is a registered charity established in 2004 that supports individuals and families in debt distress through counselling, education and, where suitable, structured repayment arrangements — so they can move forward with dignity and peace of mind.
